Roundtable on 112 in Slovakia

The Slovak Ministry of Interior and Slovak Ministry of Health organised in cooperation with EENA a National Roundtable on the 112 services and their development on the 19th - 20th November 2009, Zilina. The whole conference was under the patronage of the Minister of Interior and the Minister of Health.

Objectives of the seminar:
• Provide Slovak civil society and emergency authorities with a roadmap on how to best tackle the problems and challenges related to the implementation and functioning of the European emergency number 112 in Slovakia, cooperating with local authorities.
• Share experience and best practices with European and international experts in emergency and non-emergency communications, including the role of civil society organisations.
• Enable Slovak stakeholders to meet and speak up their position with focus on public education and possible civic initiatives.
The debate allowed Slovak stakeholders to discuss some issues with benefiting from best practices from Europe and international experience. Updates on regulatory and framework and existing technological solutions were presented. The participation of politicians also enabled collaboration for future initiatives. The roundtable paved the way to further actions promoting 112 and the tools for its efficient use, supported by civil society and local authorities.
