GNSS to determine caller location in the context of 112 emergency calls
EENA's position paper on the use of the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) on caller location in 112 emergency calls.
EENA - This paper contains the high-level policy position of EENA in relation to using mobile device-based satellite navigation positioning for 112 emergency calls. This document has been prepared by EENA in the context of an initiative led by the European Commission, DG Enterprise and Industry: they are evaluating the opportunity of enabling mobile phones to determine the caller location using the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), and in particular the European GNSS systems and to send it to public safety answering points (PSAP), in the framework of the Radio Equipment Harmonization directive.
