Meet the new EENA Board of Directors

EENA is very happy to announce the appointment of the new EENA Board of Directors!
The EENA Board of Directors is providing guidance to the association’s work and works on high-level, strategic issues in cooperation with the rest of the EENA team.
We would like to truly thank all of them for their support and expertise they provide to EENA and wish them every success within their new roles!
EENA would also like to warmly thank the outgoing Board Members for their continuing support, valuable contributions and excellent work!
Meet the Board:
Dr. Demetrios Pyrros
Demetris is the Director of Medical Services of the National Centre of Emergency Care (EKAB) in Greece and Past President of the World Association of Disaster and Emergency Medicine (WADEM). He has been repeatedly honoured by several governments for his medical interventions during disasters, such as in Armenia in 1988, Afghanistan in 1990 & Turkey in 1999.
Dr. Dieter Nuessler
Dieter is the Immediate Past President of FEU, the Federation of the European Union Fire Officer Associations. He has recently retired from his position in Aachen, Germany, where he served as Chief Fire Officer of the Fire and Rescue Service for more than 20 years.
Mr. Mladen Vratonjic
Mladen worked for the Serbian Ministry of the Interior from 2003 to 2012. As Head of Telecommunications Directorate, he was responsible for all telecommunication systems of the Serbian police and the fire brigade. He is the founder and Chairman of the Western Balkans Telecommunications Committee for improvement of Cross-border cooperation. He is the Chair of TCCA and he has been a consultant at Motorola Solutions for nationwide public safety projects.
Mr. Gary Machado
Gary is a new Administrator of EENA, as well as the Executive Director of the association. He joined EENA in October 2006. He is responsible for the strategic development of the association. Over the years, he led the creation of several successful EENA membership platforms, committees and events. He is also in charge of government affairs and he managed a number of advocacy campaigns in Brussels.
Mr. Jerome Paris
Jerome is a new Administrator of EENA, as well as the Member Services Manager of the organisation. He joined EENA in February 2009. He is responsible for the development of EENA networks (EENA Advisory Board, Emergency Services Staff Network, EENA Network of Researchers) and for maintaining relationships with all members. He manages services provided to EENA members, including the supervision of EENA events organisation and of EENA external and internal communications. Jérôme is also central to EENA's successful participation in several EU funded projects.
EENA, the European Emergency Number Association, is a Brussels-based NGO set up in 1999 dedicated to promoting high-quality emergency services reached by the number 112 throughout the EU. EENA serves as a discussion platform for emergency services, public authorities, decision makers, researchers, associations and solution providers with a view to improving the emergency response in accordance with citizens' requirements. EENA is also promoting the establishment of an efficient system for alerting citizens about imminent or developing emergencies.
The EENA memberships include more than 1300 emergency services representatives from over 80 countries world-wide, 80 solution providers, 15 international associations/organisations, more than 200 Members of the European Parliament and over 90 researchers.
