Day 1 – NG112

Set against the backdrop of accelerating technological evolution and looming regulatory deadlines, there is an urgent need for the adoption of Next Generation 112 (NG112) across Europe. On Day 1, we will discuss the ongoing transition to packet-switched networks, heralding an end-to-end transformation in emergency communications from the end-user to the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP). The NG112 architecture and its core components will be presented, highlighting how this approach ensures the continuity of emergency communications during and after the migration process and we will also discuss enhanced functionality and services, such as Next Generation eCall, real-time text, total conversation, and the conveyance of location data for caller location and routing using SIP PIDF-LO.

Additionally, the necessity for all stakeholders to collaborate effectively to ensure compatibility and interoperability between end-user devices, public networks, and PSAPs will also be emphasised. Finally, we will hear from NG112 early adopters about the benefits already being realised in terms of technical and operational effectiveness.

Day 2 – Artificial Intelligence

On Day 2, we will explore innovative solutions using artificial intelligence for enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of PSAPs and emergency response teams.

Key topics include automated call triage, resource allocation, language detection and translation, AI-supported triage systems, and chatbots for handling incoming communications. Additionally, AI applications for recording and analytics in emergency call centres, background noise cancellation, and supporting PSAP staff wellbeing will be covered. Training call-takers with AI simulation exercises will also be discussed.

The seminar will address ethical and legal considerations in integrating AI with existing systems. These discussions aim to stimulate dialogue, foster collaboration, share critical knowledge, and drive the adoption of AI and Machine Learning technologies to significantly improve public safety outcomes.
