Technical Specifications now available for NG112 architecture

These standards will enable interoperability of implementations for Next Generation 112.

ETSI has published the Technical Specifications for core elements for network independent access to emergency services (also known as the NG112 architecture) that will foster the standardised implementation of emergency communications.

Next Generation 112 (NG112) is the key to modernise emergency communications, allowing for far more data collection (text, video, location or additional data). This will not only change the way emergency services are accessed by citizens, but also how emergency responses, operators, mobile networks and others function.

In April 2019, we launched an NG112 project to test the architecture that will enable emergency services to make the most of emerging technologies, testing the communications of tomorrow, today.

The European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) is the recognised regional standards body dealing with telecommunications, broadcasting and other electronic communications networks and services. The work on NG112 started at ETSI in 2016 with the first of a total of three NG112 Plugtest events. Find the Technical Specifications for NG112 architecture here.
