People roaming now receive additional information on emergency services access

End-users travelling to other EU Member States got used to receiving an SMS informing them about the availability 24/7 and free of charge of the European Emergency Number 112 in the country they visit. Article 15 of the 2022 Roaming Regulation foresees additional information to be included in that SMS starting from 01 June 2023.

In addition to the information about 112, the SMS will now also include a link to a specific webpage that details other means of access to emergency services in the visited country, including the alternative means of access for people with disabilities.

In addition, the SMS can also include information about how to download any potential mobile application to receive public warning alerts.
