With a large number of European countries getting ready to handle eCalls, the topic has gained much attention, with many emergency services and public authorities interested in learning from others’ past experiences.

EENA is happy to present to you the “eCall implementation in Lithuania” case study document, with the aim of sharing the experience of Lithuania with countries currently undergoing the same process.

In November 2015, two 112 PSAPs in Lithuania (in the cities of Vilnius and Klaipeda) were upgraded to be able to handle 112-based eCalls. This case study focuses on three main parts of this experience:

  • The eCall upgrade of the 112 PSAPs;
  • The tests of the eCall flag functionality in Mobile Networks;
  • The relationship of the Lithuanian Emergency Response Centre (ERC) with commercial in-vehicle emergency call services providers (TPSPs).
