We are delighted to announce that Freddie, whom several EENA members already know, is joining us from today.
At EENA, Freddie will serve as Director of Digital Communications Policy and Regulation. He will be working closely with Cristina Lumbreras – EENA’s Technical Director – on topics such as standardisation and NG112. He will also support Benoît Vivier – EENA’s Public Affairs Manager – on regulatory and advocacy matters, including the fostering of NG112 in Europe.
Freddie McBride is a senior telecoms expert with over 20 years’ experience in the ICT sector. Before joining EENA, Freddie was the Deputy Director and Expert in Numbering and Networks at the European Communications Office (ECO) since November 2012. The ECO provides expert advice and support to the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT), an organisation where policymakers and regulators from 48 European countries collaborate to harmonise telecommunication, radio spectrum and postal regulations.
Prior to his role at the ECO, Freddie worked for 6 years at the Commission for Communications Regulation (ComReg), Ireland’s telecoms regulator. His responsibilities included the management and development of the national numbering plan, domain name regulation and other strategic activities. Before that, he held engineering roles at Logica CMG, Spectel, Ericsson and ESB.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Studies, a master’s in Computing and Information Systems and a postgraduate diploma in Regulatory Governance.
