EmerGent (Emergency Management in Social Media Generation) examines the impact and use of social media in emergency situations involving citizens, emergency service orgnanisations and public authorities and looks to provide guidelines and tools on how to use social media which the emergency service organisations could use during and after emergencies in the future.
The project consortium brings together ten partners from seven countries including IES Solutions (Italy), Oxford Computer Consultants Ltd and Tavistock Institute of Human Relations (both UK), Western Norway Research Institute (Norway), European Emergency Number Association ASLB (Belgium), Federation of European Union Fire Officer Associations [Luxembourg], University of Paderborn, University of Siegen, Fire and Rescue Service Dortmund (all Germany) and Scientific Research Center for Fire Protection [Poland].
