EENA’s fourth Next Generation 112 Plugtests event will be held on 22-26 February 2021, in partnership with the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI).
The NG112 Plugtests provide the unique opportunity for all stakeholders to test components along the chain of NG112 emergency response. Through different scenarios and tests cases, the interoperability and conformity of market solutions will be examined and validated. Testing the components will help to improve the efficacy of NG112 technology.
This year, our event will run in collaboration with the ninth Industry Collaboration Event (ICE 9), organised by NENA: The 9-1-1 Association. This first intercontinental interoperability testing event for NG112 and NG9-1-1 emergency calling will help to improve standardisation by ensuring compatibility between technology in Europe and the USA.
“This collaboration is key to improving emergency-calling services worldwide,” says Monica Million, ENP, NENA president. “By working together with our global partners, we can take next-generation emergency-calling services to the next level.”
The NG112 Plugtests will be hosted by ETSI at their facilities in Sophia-Antipolis, France. ICE 9 will be hosted at the Illinois Institute of Technology’s Rice Satellite Campus in Wheaton, Illinois (USA). The event will be free to attend. Depending on the situation, the whole event may be made virtual.
“We see that emergency services are increasingly moving towards Next Generation technology and we are hoping to involve more vendors than ever before in the upcoming Plugtests,” says Cristina Lumbreras, EENA Technical Director. “In this way, we can help to ensure reliable, effective and standardised emergency response.”
