This great achievement for the safety and security of citizens is the result of a collaboration between the General Secretariat for Civil Protection, the Ministry of Digital Government, Google, and the mobile network operators in the country.
From today, throughout all Greece, Emergency Location Service (ELS), Google’s implementation of Advanced Mobile Location, will be working on all mobile phones with the Android operation system. The system automatically sends the caller’s location to the emergency services whenever the user calls or sends an SMS to 112, the European Emergency Number.
