After a successful testing phase, Mexico becomes the first Latin American country to implement AML.
As every second counts when responding to an emergency, making accurate location available for emergency services can ensure the efficient dispatch of resources and completely change the outcome of a situation.
When a country deploys Advanced Mobile Location (AML), emergency services response centers are able to receive accurate location information from a handset calling an emergency number. In Mexico, where more than 80% of the calls to 911 are placed fom mobile phones, the deployment of AML is more than welcome by emergency services and citizens alike.
For the moment, AML will be live in the states of Ciudad de México, Estado de México, Hidalgo, Coahuila y Jalisco, which all sum 39 million people.
Mexico joins the list of countries worldwide that have implemented AML, Austria, Belgium, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, Lithuania, Moldova, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Slovenia, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and the United States.
You can find more information about how AML works in each country in our AML Report Card.
